The UND Research Foundation is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Director of Viral Therapeutics that serves as the organizational leader for the development of therapeutic antibodies and vaccines and manages a group of 8-10 scientists and staff. The Director will also be responsible for leading the Center of Excellence in Passive Therapeutics for viral diseases including the advancement of several product candidates with corporate and academic partners.

Applicant must possess a Ph.D. with proven expertise in Virology and Immunology and knowledge of pre-clinical and clinical trials. Candidates must have demonstrated capabilities in leading a research and development team for viral therapeutics in BSL-3/3+ labs and in successful collaborations with the private sector and public institutions.

Detailed:
Applicants must possess the following requirements: Ph.D. in Virology, Immunology, or a related Biological Science; with at least 4 years of outstanding post-doctoral research in virology, immunology, and/or immuotherapy-based research as evidenced by a distinguished record of high-impact publications and/or a significant record of creativity and accomplishment in the discovery of novel therapeutic interventions and/or treatments. The Applicant must have expertise and thorough understanding of producing therapeutic antibodies and vaccines against viral pathogens; viral and immunological assessment tools and procedures; in vitro and in vivo evaluation models; knowledge of requirements for pre-clinical and clinical trials; optimization of immunogens and vaccines; and quantitative analyses including QA/QC. Applicants with experience in BSL-3/3+ research and/or with either HPAI or WNV are highly preferred. The Research Director will be expected to have excellent management, verbal and written communication skills as well as have demonstrated excellence in the organization and leadership of a complex laboratory team, and productive and successful efforts in collaborations with other laboratories.
