UNDRF works with UND to build successful and strategic partnerships between the university and private companies, resulting in mutual gains for each.

The University of North Dakota Research Foundation (UNDRF) was formed to assist the University of North Dakota to advance its research agenda, to commercialize its university innovations and discoveries, and to create economic opportunities for Grand Forks and the State of North Dakota.

Currently, six companies (Avianax, NovaDigm, Laserlith, Prologic, Alion, Inc., and Ideal Aerosmith) representing four life sciences and advanced technologies clusters are designing research and office space that meet their needs. Most of the companies are coming from out of state to work with UND faculty on research projects or develop relationships for student intern programs.

is developing intertial systems and mission flight systems and aerospace test engineering. A student internship program is planned with School of Engineering and Mines to expand business opportunities.

(McLean, VA)
is working with the Army and School of Engineering & Mines to develop novel surface applications and materials for the defense industry.
Prologic
(McLean, VA)
is developing with BORDERS/UND Research Foundation and School of Medicine & Health Sciences, an e-learning education and training platform for emergency preparedness of military personnel.
Avianax
(Grand Forks, ND)
in partnership with the UND Research Foundation and School of Medicine & Health Sciences is developing diagnostic, therapeutic antibodies and vaccines to West Nile Virus and Avian Influenza.
NovaDigm
(Grand Forks, CA)
is looking to work with UND Research Foundation and School of Medicine & Health Sciences on developing vaccines for antibiotic resistance Staphylococcus and Candida and possibly Y. pestis.
